Ya know, it could fall with someone *there* and still seemingly make no sound. I had some storms come through here a couple of weeks ago and topple/uproot a 110' hickory.....and I didn't hear the bloody thing fall. It even took out a small section of the fence, but I was oblivious to it 'til I looked out the window and saw about 10' of tree on the ground where the fence used to be.....

Yes! The tree makes a sound! There are always animals in the forest and they hear the tree long before it falls.

Of Course it does!! Just because no one is around to hear the sound doesn't mean that sound from a tree falling in the forest does not occur. I think that many facts of basic science would prove that.

Sound waves are created when two physical bodies suddenly attempt to occupy the same location in the space-time continuum. But like waves on the ocean that only break when they reach a shore, sound waves actually make no "noise" until they come in contact with the human ear. Therefore, without an ear to reflect off of, the falling tree would not have produced a sound.

No. If there is a deaf man next to the tree when it falls, it makes no sound to him because he is incapable of hearing.
Definition for sound: Vibrations transmitted through an elastic solid or a liquid or gas, with frequencies in the approximate range of 20 to 20,000 hertz, capable of being detected by human organs of hearing.
Another definition: The sensation stimulated in the organs of hearing by such vibrations in the air or other medium.
If you cant hear it, there is no noise, and therefore, if you are too far from the transmitted noise of the falling tree and likewise cant hear it, there is no sound.

No. Sound is only created only when a person is there to hear it. The sound is determined only when a person hears the vibrations an object made. There are bunchs of example where this is supported. If a small mosquito is around you, but you can't hear it. Is the mosquito flying around you and making a sound? Yes. So if no one is around, no sound is created, only because sound has to be heard by someone to be verified.
