2 day old baby with lump on her head, medical staff refers to it as 'mickey mouse ears', they say it is blood under skin. Is it serious or lift threatening?

Blood under the skin........a haematoma? Something like that? Never heard it referred to as mickey mouse ears, but it sounds like the baby has a haematoma - was the birth instrumental? Did the doctors/midwives use a ventouse (suction cup) to help get baby out? If so, then the suction can cause a haematoma to form on the top of the baby's head.
No, it's not serious or life threatening and will gradually just resolve with no treatment.
