i would definitely ask for a second opinion to make sure this is the correct thing to do.
i also had a rather large baby and my ob/gyn allowed me to elect for a scheduled c-section a week before my due date and there were no complications.

You can have a period and still be pregnant. I was !
The doctor probably has a better idea of your due date than you do based on your exams and tests. You actually may go into labor about 3 days or 3 days after June 28th so be patient.
You also seem to be worried about the weight at this point...you could be just having a large baby. Be sure and keep your appts. with the OB and if you notice anything odd or out of the ordinary, you can always go to the hospital and they will check you and keep you up to date. The nurses are usually very awesome.

there is no reason to rush a baby knows when to be born and how. I'm not really understanding why the doctor would be doing a c section on the 28th when you are not even due till the 30th. unless the baby has a health issue and must be delivered sooner or you have a disease that requires a c section there shouldn't be a reason to do one.
BTW the weight of the baby as determined by ultrasound is usually way off (as much as 5 lbs in either direction)

They should have been able to get a more accurate gestational age for baby with an ultrasound. If you had one, I'd listen to your doc. However, I don't know how they got the *exact* weight of your baby- never heard of that. You are not "really" full-term until you hit 40 weeks. It's not uncommon to have a 42 week term. More women are late than early. If you do end up going into labor, they can still give you a c-section.
*If you were to go by the first day of your last period, you would have had the baby towards the end of May.

Your doctor knows what is best. You can always talk to him about it at your next appointment and ask why he waiting until then. It never a bad idea to know why something is happening to you.
Has he suggested an aversion? This is where they turn the baby by pushing on your belly from the outside. Some doctors will do this, some won't but it's never bad to be informed and know your options.
Ask him why he feels waiting would be better then doing it now. He may be unsure as to your due date, or it may be that he can't do it until that close to your due date, some hospitals are stingy on that. Just talk to him and tell him why you feel it would be good to do it now. He should explain why to you if you ask.

You need to listen to your doctor. A baby needs all possible time due to the development of the lungs and other vital organs. You must respect your doctor otherwise you would have changed by now, right? And even though the doctor says the baby weighs over 8 lbs, that may not be correct. When my granddaughter was born, we were told she was over 9 lbs, however she didn't even weigh 6 lbs. This is only a guesstimate. Just be patient, it is best for your baby.

Congrats on your first baby! Yes you should tell the docter to take the baby out sooner. It is a lot of stress on your body to have a 10lb baby in there! And if the baby is at that weight than it is difinitely ready to be born. Good luck!

It sounds like the OB/GYN has it under control and has been monitoring your condition closely.
Scheduled C-sections are common and 10lb babies are not unheard of.
Good luck and congratulations.

OMG why would the last answerer say something like that? The baby will not die cause she carries it full term! As far as your question....if you are having a c-section then why worry about the size??

okay, to find out your approximate due date you always use your first day of your last period, so it doesn't matter about how long from your pregnancy test. as far as waiting or not as long as you are not in pain then put some trust in your doctor.
