I havent read that book since like the 5th grade. I think its about a boy who gets lost on an island with a blind man. blah blah blah skip to the end; the blind guy sacrifices his life for the kid.

The Cay, if the book I have in mind is the same one, is about a boy on a ship who winds up blind on an island with a man named Timothy. He is an african-american. They live together and the boy gets used to the mans company. Then Timothy dies. The boy has to get used to being on his own. He gets rescued by a ship or a plane, I forget. Also I forgot the boys name.

You know, I read that book in first or second grade, and now I can't remember a thing about it- all I know is that I liked it. You can try sparknotes.com, or maybe just a google search for "The Cay plot summary".

An awesome book. Yes, the boy is blinded when his boat is hit by a torpedo. He and Timothy are stranded on the Cay and Timothy. Timothy teaches the boy (I can't remember his name) survival skills but mostly not to be a racist. There is a sequel called Timothy of ????. It tells the rest of the story of what happens to the boy and more about Timothy. Go to Scholastic. com I think they have a lot of good info there.
