It's not a refund of their income tax.

It's a refund of what they are estimated to have paid in other taxes, primarily sales taxes, for that year. Since those taxes reduce the amount of resources people can buy, people on welfare have a very limited income with which to purchase things, and the taxes represent a much greater percentage of their income (being a flat-rate tax based on what you have to buy, not on what percentage you can afford to pay), the government assumes their income is low enough that the taxes represent an undue burden on them.

As a result, it returns part of that money to them in order to help alleviate the burden.

You have asked a question that I have been asking about for years!!!! I have nothing against people who are on welfare. I believe it helps people who are seriously trying or are just not able to work ( elderly ). But you have these dead beats who are milking the system for all it's worth because of pure laziness!! They don't " feel " like working because the state takes care of everything while, the rest of us are working are a***** off trying to make ends meet. All the while, supporting the dead beats. I think that in order to get any kind of refund while on welfare, rather than having state workers clean roads and highways, the ones who aren't working and have been receiving welfare for years with no intention of working because of a free ride should be doing it!

They don't that I know of unless they own their house and then they would have to pay real estate tax. I never heard of anyone getting refunds cause they don't file income when on welfare

most people who are on welfare are on it for a reason. and im sure they dont want to be.. its emberassing and degrading. but they are unable to work, and it must suck for them.

think about it, who would actually want to be on welfare? people make more money in a week than they do a whole month. its sad. i think tax refunds are good for them. its unfortunate that they have to live like this in the first place.

people are sooo fricken cruel. and greedy. do you all not care about other people?

that is, unless, the people on welfare are only on it cause theyre lazy, or just want free money. in that case, screw them. they dont deserve any of it.

Look, would you rather be on welfare, or have your taxes go to people on welfare? You human piece of CRAP.

People are so ******* greedy, "Oh, I don't want my money to help homeless people and veterans and people that have less than I do."

YOU LIVE IN A MODERN SOCIETY. Modern societies take care of those that need extra help. So quit your whining b*tch and ante up.
