Man is definately on a path of destruction but it all depends on whether man destroys the earth or man destroys himself first thru pollution war and famine. Then there is hope for the earth but in the end the sun will eventually consume the earth but not for a very very long time.

the earth can`t last forevever as it i is constantky being drawn into the sun and sooner or later will add to its mass and eventually the sun will explode as a super nova.
