when i use ipconfig to see my computer's IP address and when i use any DNS server (like www.myipaddress.com) to get my ip address, the results are different. why this is so?

further, in both cases, i always get the same IP address. aren't these IP addresses dynamically allocated?
and how can i get my MAC address?

If you're behind a router you'll technically have two IP Addresses..
1) External IP : which is the IP Address of the Router on the Internet (which you see in www.myipaddress.com)
2) IP : which is assigned to you by the router (which you see in ipconfig)

The External IP is mostly Static.. as the Dynamic IP Address isn't a free service.. because a dynamic IP helps in some applications...

The Router assigns the IP address given to you according to the users with you in the network.. if you're alone on the router then you'll be given the same IP address.. Example :
the first one uses the network is given 192.168.1.3, the second .4, the third .5 ... etc.. if the users shutdown their computers and their order in using the network again changed then the assigned IP to every user will change...

This depends on how you get your IP address from your ISP and whether or not you use a router or firewall device. If you are behind one of these you will have a public IP address from your ISP, which is used by the device, and another IP address assigned by the device. Most cable service providers will assign IP address "dynamically" (also known as DHCP), DSL providers will usually do the same although most also use user name and password authentication. Most home routers or firewalls are set the same ay by default. Some ISP's offer static IP's (permanently assigned) for an additional fee. Either way, you will have two IP addresses if you're on a LAN.

Your computers IP address is not the same as the one the ISP gives you.

or maybe you are using some stealth software to change the ip address to something different than the real one.

If you're behind a router...you'll have a local address such as 192.168.x.x ... your real ip address will be displayed on www.myipaddress.com. That is the address that your ISP assigned you.
