since reading the novel, i've imagined being a guest at the great gatsby's parties. it sounded so glamorous and enjoyable, dancing the charleston! so i'd probably go there, failing that i'd go and watch myself being born, that would be amazing!

The first Woodstock festival... just to see Jimi Hendrix perform... and I'd run up onto the stage when he did 'Fire', and sing Noel Redding's part for the backing vocals... "Let Me Stand Next To Your Fi-yah!" Whatever was between Noel and Jimi, however great Jimi was, that song wasn't the same without Noel... wouldn't be the same with me either, but maybe if I could just show Jimi the problem, things would have been different...

Where do I start? There are so many moments in history that I wish I could've been a part of, or at least witnessed. As a 24 year old, some things I only just missed out on, and some others that are so long ago, no one who was there is alive anymore. In the interests of saving your valuable time, I'll try and narrow the list down to the most important to me, the top of my very long list in no particular order...

Be in the crowd to hear, first hand, Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech....
Throw myself head first into the experience that was Woodstock....
Wander the streets of London in the nineteenth century....
Visit all the hottest clubs in 1920's Chicago....
Be an audience member at the first ever performance of Shakespear's Romeo & Juliet....
Watch the first ever moon landing as it happened....
Go ahead in time to see if I ever have children and what kind of people they turn out to be and if they are happy....

But without doubt, the number one thing on my list is...
Go back in time, as I am now, with all the knowledge and sensibilities I now posess, and visit my younger self at age 10. Tell her to never ever settle in love. To always believe that she is worthy of everything she desires in life. To never try to hide any of the gifts that she has been blessed with simply for the sake of "fitting in." To take care of herself, mentally, physically and emotionally. To be careful who she trusts, but definately don't be AFRAID to trust. To always try to recognise and act upon the opportunities that are in front of her. Tell her that, no matter how alone she feels, there is ALWAYS someone who loves her, someone who'll listen, someone she can turn to for help. To never be afraid or ashamed to ask for the help she needs, be it a hand to do the dishes, or a shoulder to lean on when she just can't cope. It's ok to admit you can't do everything on your own. And most importantly, I'd tell her that, she does NOT need to look to others to see how she should feel about herself, what she sees in the mirror is only a small part of the person she is and that she is more than good enough.

With any luck, she'll listen and it'll stick with me through the rest of my life.

I'd go to San Diego, it's nice there. Oh wait, you said a time machine. I guess I'd go back in time and make bets with people that the Titanic would sink.

What do you mean 'if'?

Ah, erm, have I given my secret away?

Well, 'if' I had a time machine and it worked (it would be DeLorean of course), I would like to go back in time and tell myself what I know now, I'd also tell myself to have a bit more fun! Ah but if I went back in time and talked to myself that could cause a flux in the space-time continuum, hmmmm, hey, I've really got to go and lie down now, you made my head hurt. :)

I would go to the mid 60's. Where they had good music and the freedom to express yourself as a person. I sometimes feel I was born in the wrong generation.

I would want to go forward in time to see if mankind manages to solve the problems it is causing at the moment.

(After a quick trip to the past with a few lottery numbers)

I'd go back to my childhood and tell me that I'm not as ugly as everyone at school says, and that when I grow up I end up being quite pretty, because that fooked me up as a kid.
