I don't know which major to pick. I know that I either want to be an accountant, a nurse (RN), or a legal assistant. Which should I choose?

~~i guess your best bet would be to get your basic classes out of the way, and while you are doing that, take an introductory class to each specialty you are interested in. this will give you a better background of requirements, as each major that you are looking at is in a completely different direction. me, i am not good with numbers, and the tho't of sitting all day is not appealing. I do enjoy helping people and there is very little that can grose me out, so i would prob. choose nursing. also, as long as there are sick people they are going to need nurses. some day computers may take over all accounting aspects, so if you choose to be an accountant, be sure to get a degree in computers as well. Good luck with your future~~

right now, when I look through the employment ads....there are so many opportunities for accounting. That is a good career path, you can make a good living there. Of course, there is always a demand for RN's...you will probably make less than you would as an accountant...but will have a much larger variety of jobs available to you...and if you are going to be a legal assistant...like a paralegal, you can find a good job...but why not just go to law school?

Take a few classes in each major, ie, business, biology/chemistry. If you want to go into law, you can basically major in anything you want -- you'll just have to go to law school after you graduate college.

Also look around in other areas. Try the humanities (history, philosophy, english, psychology, etc.). Just explore a bit. You never know what you might find. I just finished my first year of college, and I haven't chosen a major yet -- but I've been doing some browsing around, and I really liked a few of the classes I took this year.

Remember, you don't have to choose a major as soon as you enter college! You've got a year or two to make up your mind... and even then, you can always change your major.

A nurse. There are TONS of job openings for nurses and you will feel good about helping people.

I wouldn't choose a legal assistant. Legal assistants get treated like crap by lawyers who are full of themselves and think that they are smarter than anyone else in the world (I would know, I went to law school).

Usually go with your heart and desire. Even though they all pay something. I would suggest taking a career assessment test to analyze your top interest. You can take these at colleges or workforce centers. Also, if salary is the case then try the website below to find what employers are paying in different areas. But if you become a nurse, try to get qualified before the bird flu arrives. You will never be without work then.

I would choose nursing. They are is such high demand right now, you can pretty much write your ticket in that occupation. As long as you can handle the blood and sick people. You will have a great salary, a rewarding career (helping people in need instead of helping someone else get rich, and you can pretty much work where you want.

Go with your heart but if you are not sure that you want to be a nurse don't go there. We need more nurses but we don't need more nurses who wish they had chosen a different profession.
