Queen Elizabeth II has a birthday parade every year to celebrate her official birthday...

Don't tell me you have never heard of "Trooping The Colour"

It's on Saturday 17 June to mark the Queen's official birthday.

The event consists of a military parade and march-past by Household Troops on Horse Guards Parade, Whitehall. The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, will ride in a carriage during the parade and will take the salutes from a dais (a temporary stage) on Horseguards Parade.

The deadline for applications to watch Trooping the Colour on Horse Guards Parade has now passed. However, you can still go and watch the processions to and from Horse Guards Parade along the Mall. The parade begins at 11am.

It's called the Trooping of the Colour.
This is an annual ceremony involving certain units of the army who parade their flags in front of the Queen at Horse Guards Parade in St James's Park.

I couldn't care less for a parade! I want a bank holiday for the occasion. The Dutch get a bank holiday for the queen mum's birthday every year. In the Uk you get to work and make sure the UK reputation of having to work some of the longest hours in Europe stays intact.
Pompous leftover from imperial days but i could be wrong there. Who needs it other than the tourists?

Ps. i am not anti-royal btw. just opinionated :-)

The parade is part of the celebrations held on the 24th of May. It isn't Elizabeth's birthday -- it was originally Queen Victoria's birthday, and successive monarchs have continued the tradition of celebrating the Queen's birthday on that date. The Queen's real birthday is celebrated quietly with family and friends. No parades on the real one!
