put an open box of of baking soda in the back of fridge- change box every month or every other month. Don't throw away the old soda- pour it down your sinks disposal if you have one or directly in your kitchen sink drains- rinse well.

Remove everything, I mean EVERYTHING from the fridge, then clean it well with an effective cleansing solution (like 1 cup Lysol with 1/2 gallon warm water).
Put a new, freshly opened box of Arm & Hammer baking soda on each shelf, close the door and leave it closed for a few days.
That should do it.

Use baking soda and water. 1/2 cup baking soda and a gallon or so of warm water. For stuck on food, use soaked wash rag on for about 3-5 min. then wash and food should remove fairly easy. Don't use abrasives or scowering pads. This will scratch the inside. Also you will probably have to take the hole thing apart. Glass shelves can be removed, taken apart, and put in soapy water in the tub to remove food or sticky grim. Just remember to wash the inside with the solution I gave you.

Take everything out. Wipe it clean...use a cup of bleach and a gallon of water....put everything back in...making sure that everything is sealed and wrapped properly. This avoids those funky odors.
For extra protection you can get a box of baking soda and leave it in there. They sell boxes specifically for that purpose. But you have to change it every so often.
Oh yeah..also, make sure you wrap items very tightly before storing in the fridge!

Put a small open container of coffee grounds on one of the shelves. It takes out mold smells and any other. I left mine closed up for 6 months one time and nothing else would get the smell out. Also you can try putting a few pieces of charcoal in a container in the back of one of the shelves. This works also

Wipe fridge out with warm soapy water, rinse, then dry thoroughly, then put a few drops of vanilla essense on to a wrung out wet cloth. Wipe the fridge out with this and it will be clean and odourless.
The mild scent from the vanilla does not linger for long.

Keep a box of baking soda in there. That keeps down smells, and keeps everything fresh.

I use Lysol Tub and Tile Cleaner. It is a great multi purpose cleaner. It cleans up everything and smells great. It also is great on microwave.
