I'm a 29 year old white guy and was thinking of getting my ears pierced. My GF thinks it would suit me. I'm a little cautious about getting it done and am somewhat converned about what friends and people at work etc will think/say. I will probably get both ears pierced but don't know whether to get studs of hoops. Any thoughts/advice?

Well, the first thing I would do would be to not worry about what other people might think. Some people Will think it looks good and other won't like it because they are old fashioned or just do not think it looks good on a guy. So, different opinions is a GIVEN. So rule that out and don't worry about what others think.
Ok.
Now look in the mirror and put a small earring up to your ear or have your girlfriend hold it up to your ear.and see if you really like it or not. You said you were thinking about it so that probably means you already like the idea. So, GO for it. Personally, I love earrings on a guy. I really like one earring but I have seen that two earrings look good as well. If I were you, I would get one first and get used to it and then get the second one later, but you do what you want, since it is totally up to you. That is just my opinion so you do what is best for your and your style. You are a young adult and working and care about your appearance, so you have a right to do what you like. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, Okay. I hope my ideas help you in some way. Have fun and do what you want. :)

Both ears, small (but thick) hoops. That always looks good on a guy. Try going with a 14 gage. That is hot. Also what looks hot is if you get two on one side and one on the other. That is what some of my friends have done and it doesn't look so "girlie."
And no it doesn't hurt because my dad had the above done just 3 years ago and it didn't bother him a bit and it looks wicked cool. Now if we can just get him to get a tattoo!
One more thing - Most of these answers on here have "I think" or "I like" - screw that. Do what you want to do and what you like. You being 29 should know half the chick on here are not even old enough to drink yet.

Honestly, i hate the look of a guy with both ears pierced, especially the lobes, with hoop earrings, it looks awful! I would go for a stud, and just get one done, to see how you like it, and if you do get the other one pierced. But let me tell you, a tragus piercing is hot :P But yeah, those are your ears, don't let your girlfriend decide for you.

Only one ear should be done on a guy, two does look fine but one is better. And you should go with hoops, guys look gay with studs. Hope this helped, good luck on your decision!!

I think men look better with both ears pierced as well! But I suggest going with the studs. Hoops are more 90's grunge.

if you think that you would enjoy having them and your employer would not mind i would say go for it i would go for hoops in a 14 g earring and i would also find someone who pierces with a needle instead of a gun. it is less likely to cause damage and ruin any of the ear tissue!!

there're some guys it really does fit, personally i don't like, if u decide to go thru with then do one ear and get a stud and then get ur peers' opinion on whether or not u shud do both and stud/hoop

I do not think it looks good when a guy gets his ears pierced. That is a little outdated now. Pierce something different.

well i'm 25 years old and i really don't like it i think it looks gay, and if u were a teenager who was experimenting it would be fine, because u would be immature but 29 and u feel a bit cautious? that's a sign for u not to do it good luck.
