My daughter was a cutter at one time. She did it for six months, without me knowing about it. She cut in the breast area and near her bikini area, so that I wouldn't see it. When she finally told me about it, I was upset, and she promised that she would never do it again. I asked her why she did that, and she explained that she felt lousy about herself, and her grades, etc., and cutting was her way of releasing her pain. Now, three years later, she thinks that is was a really stupid thing to do. She has friends who are cutters, and she tries to help them as well. She talks to them about their problems, and if they continue to do it, she simply severs the relationship. Her best friend was a cutter, and still is. My daughter hasn't spoken to her for over nine months now. If the Parent's of your friend find out, then perhaps they can get her into counseling. I wish your friend and you good luck.

I once had a friend who would cut her arms during school. Next to me. It was a sickening sound and just the thought of her doing it would bring tears to my eyes. I knew and our other best friend knew. Our other friend said it was her problem and if she wanted to cut herself, we should let her. Little did I know both of them were doing this deed. It's difficult to understand why someone would self mutilate when we're not on that level. She could be doing it for a number of reasons. She could be trying to make any emotional pain go away with physical pain. She could be doing it because it makes her feel in control (I did this with anorexia) or she could just like the feel and how she looks, or a number of other things. I know you're young from a previous question, so I think you should talk to her parents and let them know what's going on. Or another adult you can trust. Yes, this will probably cause her to "hate" you. But she'll get over it when she sees your good intentions. It's a serious problem and it's a psychological problem. It's damaging. It's not something you should tip toe around or try to take on by yourself. Seek the help of an adult. It's going to be the easiest way to help her get her life back. You'll always be her friend, whether she sees this or not. It may hurt to loose her, but you may not loose her. Help her. Help her by telling those close to her and who have the resources to help her what's going on.

i don't know what the word cutter means...do you mean cuter? if so, she can't stop being cute. maybe you should boost your self esteem and not have her lower hers to make you feel better about yourself.

really, there isnt much you can do except be there for her. you could try talking to someone. or talk to her about it. ask her why she does those things to her body. basically, just be a good friend and be there for her. show her that you are there for her and that you care her. hope this helps!
