The result is there will be times when the moon and the sun will be in a position where both can be seen simultaneously.
Inevitably there are occasions when the moon is between the earth and sun and a solar eclipse takes place. The black spot of the moon may be seen crossing the face of the sun.

It is not only the Moon, the stars and planets also sometimes appear in the sky at the same time as the Sun, but they are not bright enough to see in the day time.

Sometimes the moons orbit means that it passes the face of the earth facing the sun. There's no reason why the moon should only be passing the dark side of the earth.

Simple - depending on where you are in the world, and where the sun and moon are, the sun will also illuminate the moon, therefore it can be seen.
I live in Scotland and during winter months you can usually see the moon most days as well as the sun.

A good question, and one I often ponder. I can't tell you as I have never heard a good explanation, but I can add a point: you never see a full moon at the same time as the sun.
