From the intensity of the pain, I would say the symptoms sound like a migraine. You can purchase OTC migraine meds, but from what you've described, you may be having cluster headaches and you need to see a physician.
FYI - there are other conditions that can cause this to happen, so you must see a physician to get a proper diagnosis.
For Now - when the pain occurs, lie down, put a cold compress on the area, turn off all the lights, tv, radio, ect. Take ibuprofen 600mg (if you have no stomach problems, if so take Tylenol) and make an appointment to see a physician as soon as possible. Start with your family Dr, but you may eventually need to see a Neurologist.
Best Of Luck to you and make that appt ASAP!

This is called a cluster headache. it is type of migraine most experienced by men. google cluster headaches and you will see. I have regular migraines. i take 400 mgs of Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) a day. I haven't had a migraine for 3 years now. Perhaps it would work for you, but google cluster headaches and you will find a lot of men suffering from the same thing. maybe they will tell you what works.

Probably sinus pressure. I'd take an OTC medication for sinus pain/pressure and see if that helps before seeing a doctor. If it doesn't then I'd make an appointment. Given the time of the year and the fact that this is one of the worst allergy seasons in year, I'd bet that's the cause. Remember... just because you haven't had allergies in the past doesn't mean you won't develop them.

I would have said a migraine. Do you get dizzy at the same time? Maybe you need to wear glasses.
In any case this doesnt sound like much fun, so go to an Optician's for a better opinion.
