What many of these nimrods fail to see is the **$$$$$$$$$** that the games will bring into the the UK and European economy.
London should not need to build too many new facilities (but probably will anyway). The broadcast rights alone will bring in a fortune. Since these rights are negotiated for each country, the sums will be PHENOMENAL! NBC won the US rights for $2.2 billion US. They expect the worldwide totals to exceed $4 Billion when all contracts are awarded.
As long as the UK avoids overspending and corruption such as what occurred in Athens, then they have a great chance to cash in on the games. The worse they'll have to deal with is the traffic and the South London thugs....but hey, the Brits made the '48 games a huge success and this was only 3 years after the end of WWII!
Frankly, I'm excited by them winning the games, cause they could be great.

Yes, the Olympics will provide billions and billions of pounds of investment and regeneration to the east end of London. I think the improvements to east London would have taken decades if it were not for the Olympics.
Cities all over the world spend million of pounds and years of hard work to try and become an Olympic city, if the Olympics did not matter then this would not happen.

Yes, if they can arrange the most watched wedding of the Century prince Charles and Lady Diana then a Summer Olympics will be apiece of cake.
When it comes to drinking I'm sure they will have no problem arranging a piss up in a brewery. When they come to New Zealand supporting their national teams, rugby, league and cricket they are very sociable and friendly people.

If they are as bad as they are at finishing off the new Wembley, maybe it wasn't such a good thing that they won the bid.

I don't see why London had to get the games for a third time. Plenty of other cities available...
