Never heard of useing it to lighten skin but if you get stung my something or burned put a piece of a potato skin on the affected area and then wrap a bandaid over it it will take the pain right away. for real thats what my grandma used to do for me and it really works.

I haven't heard that there any chemicals in potatoes that lighten the skin, in fact, I would guess it may darken the skin - have you ever seen what happens to a peeled potato that has been left on the counter? It turns black....
I used to use lemons to get rid of freckles on my skin - I found it helped until I went out in the sun again...but if you're careful with using sunscreen when you go outside, you should be able to keep the lighter skin colour.

I have never heard of potatoes doing anything for a skin condition. I have heard of people using a cut potatoe in back of your ear when your getting it pierced to pull the needle all the way out.

Yes! sure it does. Here's how you do it : Grate a potato and try to remove the juice from it. Then take a cotton woll and with it apply the potato juice all over you face and neck. Wait for about 15 - 20 mins and wash off with cool water. Then PAT dry your face. It'll glow!

The only thing I can think of is that potatoes contain starch mostly released in its juices. If you rub a potato on you and let the juice dry you will be left with a light powdery film - almost the consistency of a natural mineral make-up. The problem with this is that unlike mineral make-up which is non-communogenic the starch from potatoes will block your pores and may contribute to outbreaks and acne.

Yes. Put approximately 1/2" of mashed potatoes on your body for 45minutes twice a day. You'll see the results in no time.
