Strong closed minded opinions, seems to sort of a oxymoron. How can people have such strong unyeilding points of view without considering the other side of the arguement? If science worked this way we would have never invented the wheel.

Very good point.
I think people become intransigent in their points of view because their POVs are being attacked. There's little room for reasoned discussion when the first statement of an argument is "you're an idiot."

For most people it's easier to cling unswervingly to an ideology rather than acutally think something through.
What's interesting is everyone has foundational assumptions that they cling to. No one is completely open minded, no matter how much they want to be.

Ah but who has decided they don't know the other side of the spectrum? Simply because they have adopted one point of view does not mean they haven't done it with some evidence and gathering of information? I hope you are not simply saying those who disagree with you have not studied your point of view fairly?

Science is fact and logic it can be proved! Lifestyles are personal beliefs That can't be proved. As long as there are two people on earth there will be a disagreement!

exactly...i dont see how either side will ever win without a mass slaughtering of the opposing side...but i doubt it will ever go that far.
