Leaving your lawn "longer" actually protects it! When you cut it too short, you open it up to diseases, "burnout" from heat etc. We always leave ours longer and it is always green and healthy!!

My blades are set 3.5 to 4 inches high while the mower is on concrete. My lawn is always green and thick with a minimum of weeds. All my neighbors lawns are cut short. They brown out, have horrible scalp marks, are thin, etc. Makes mine look twice as good.

Long, 2 1/2 " to 3". The hotter the weather the longer it should be. And yes, it is very important never to cut off more than 1/3 of the blade at any one time. Grass stores its food in the blade, and cutting too much off stresses it badly, and a few hot dry days can take it out. Also, long grass crowds out many weeds.

Its better to cut it long. If you cut it too short, you may get your lawn yellowish and with a chance for moss-growing because the grass gets bad on self-nutrition.

Cut it long, especially during the long dry spells.
The lengthy grass will collect more dew in the morning and also protect the roots from drying-out. When it starts to droop over you can cut it again.

Cut it short, add some lawn seed, water it regularly and give it a weed feed and moss killer at least once a year, twice if you want best results........dont forget the watering, it is the most important part ........if it doesnt rain, water it!!!
