Miles per hour (mph) is how far a car will go if it stays at that speed for an hour. It's gone 28 miles in 30 minutes. If it runs for another 30 minutes, then it'll go 28+28=56 miles, and that will be in 30 minutes + 30 minutes = 1 hour. So 56 miles per hour.

Another way of looking at it is converting 30 minutes to hours. 30 minutes is a half hour or 0.5 hours. Divide (28 miles) / (0.5 hours) = (28/0.5) (miles/hour) = (56) (miles per hour).
