i don't get paid to not work but i dont want to get lightninged either. can you make money really on the internet.

Most, more likely all, of the "opportunities" that come along, and definitely any/all of the ones that arrive via e-mail are SCAMS scams scams scams scams. They will take your money and you will not make any.
Even if you start an eBay business you can get burned on product sourcing unless you are creating your own.
Maybe you just need to look for a better type of job.
