I have an mp3 file thats 8 hours long, but its only 170mbs in size, however nero wont let me burn it onto a cd (even though the cd is 650mb), it will only burn the first 80mins of the mp3. I can burn the whole thing if I do it as a 'data cd' but then it wont play in my cd player....Does anyone know how I can put an 8hour 170mb sound file onto a cd that will play in my cd player?

sorry body , there is no way if you don't like change any thing :
but another way :
1 split your file with some software like cool edit 2000 to seprated pices, and then burn a disk with seprated mp3 files.
2 burn it as a data single mp3 file .
3 after splitation burn it as different audio cd 's.

Unless your CD player will play MP3s, you're hooped.
If it will, then ensure that you are closing the disk (this should be a check-box on the final ccreen of your burning software). Most data burning softwares offer you the option of closing the disk so that no more data can be added - this conflicts with some auto cd/mp3 players.

Not possible. For a regular CD Player to recognize the CD, it will have be in the normal Audio format, which is bound to measure by the length of minutes, not the size of total MB.

NB. Regular CD Player does not know what MB is.

Have you tried to burn it as "data". I have found that mine play music even if I select "data".

Good Luck
