The a/c is run off a belt. You might need to check the belt tension and the condition of the belt. If your belt is good and the tension feels right you might next try a can of belt dressing. It's just a spray can you buy at an auto parts store. Good luck!

Your accessory belt needs adjusting... the AC compressor adds drags to it , hence the squeal.
You can also get "Belt Dressing" and spray onto the belt to reduce the chatter if the tension is already OK.
Last resort is to replace the belt.

Right, the screechng is from a loose fan belt. Have someone tighten it. Shouldn't cost more than ten bucks, even in today's economy.

Your A/C belt is either worn, glazed or out of adjustment . Neither being a very expensive repair

I bet it's your alternator working extra hard to charge up your battery. Get a new battery.
