My girlfriend and I, are trying to find a performing arts school. Basically we want to study the film industry as well as the music business. I'm the performer and she's the behind the scenes girl who takes care of all the business; however, I wanna learn how both industries work as well. We're looking for a college that will allow us to just focus on our preferred study. We don't want the hassle of trying to balance between general study courses and our majors like a regular college. So if anyone knows of a really well known school for such a thing which will offer a great education, or even if you can just direct us to someone who may know something, please help us out. Location is not an issue. Well... as long as it's in the country. ;) Thanks so much for any and all support!

If you feel as though you have found a place in your school and do not want to switch or for whatever reasons choose not to, then why not look for classes outside of school to boost your skills. Check in with your local theatre companies and see what classes they offer. If you think you will be happier in a school with an additional focus on the performing arts, then go ahead and switch. Either way, you risk regretting something - that's a side effect of making a choice. You shouldn't worry about measuring up to the talent level as that is why you are in school - to learn, improve and grow, right? And is it better to challenge yourself by working with people who will challenge you, or to be comfortable in a place where you might not be as challenged? But the bottom line is that only you can decide what is right for you. People can list their experiences, both good and bad, at Performing Arts High Schools for you, but your experience can be whatever you make of it - no matter where you are. Break a leg!

The top schools to get the most out of any subject area be it the arts and/or the business of the arts would definitley be either NYU Tisch School of the Arts or the University of Southern California. Those are, in my opinion, the top two schools in the nation. If you decide on NYU, you could persue a double major in acting and business or film and business, anything your heart desires. Julliard is not as good as it used to be, contrary to popular belief. Other good places strictly for performance training are Carnegie Mellon, Boston University, Emerson College, Depaul University. If you want to get into a more musical theater side, stick to Carnegie Mellon and NYU.

If you're good enough, try Juliard. You'll have to try out to get a position, but it's the best their is for performing arts, both on the stage and behind it.
