If you have roommates, then you need to talk to them first.
You don't want to bring double of some things...like you won't need two microwaves.
Most colleges have meal plans. You'll probably still want some food in the room. I doubt if you will have a stove, so you will only want food that doesn't need to be cooked or food that can be cooked in the microwave.
You'll probably want a mini-fridge. It won't hurt to have two of those because you'll probably need the space.
I would bring a computer, too.
You'll need dishes, but if your roommate brings dishes, then you won't need to.
My room came with a desk and a chair for each person. Besides the beds, there wasn't any other furniture. You may want a bean bag or inflatable chair.
My floor wasn't carpeted, so rugs or carpet is nice to have.

When I was in college, we got a meal plan when we lived in the dorms. We were able to eat in the cafeteria or on meal exchange at the commons at the student union. I never had my own dishes or anything. Paper plates and plastic cups might be ideal. Of course, you may do things differently than I did!

Bring stuff for laundry (laundry basket, detergent, quarters, etc.) and also stuff for the bathroom (especially if you have to share a bathroom with all the people on your floor--bring a shower caddy in which you can keep your toothbrush, soap, razor, etc.).

Don't bring TOO much stuff. Dorms are typically small. Good luck!
