It's a good song about how life is hard and even when there's good you are dealing with bad and you just have to get through the days. That's why it's bittersweet.

The people below are correct. That's too bad The Verve is no longer a band. The lead singer Richard Ashcroft has released a couple Cd's, but they lack what The Verve had.

its just talking about how life is bitter and sweet. and he can change his personality and be different people but he cant change his mold
