It depends on what you mean by average. About half of all couples will conceive within 3 months, 75% within 6 months, and 85% within a year.

If you want to help things along, please read _Taking Charge of Your Fertility_ by Toni Weschler. You do *not* need to wake up at 4 am to get pregnant. In fact, you are unlikely to do so--you'll be too exhausted to ever have sex!! Whatever time you normally wake up is the time to take your BBT. But don't count on its telling you *before* you ovulate; it will only let you know when it is *too late* to get pregnant this cycle. Instead, you need to chart your cervical fluid. The book gives all the details.

Good luck!!

My DH and I have been ttc for 7 months and still nothing. I really thought this month was the month since af is late, I took a pregnancy test and it came out negative, of course. I have heard it can take up to a year but it is such a struggle! I am completely regular at 28 days and ovulation is the same at 14 days every month-we time or baby dance every month differently because nothing ever works. I guess it is up to God now for us, good luck to you and I hope it happens soon for you if that is what you both want.

There is no one answer to this question. Everyone is different. My husband and I had been TTC since Feb '03. We conceived in Oct '03. I lost the baby in Dec '03. I did not get pregnant again until Aug '04 and we had been TTC since Jan '04. For some people, sadly, they never conceive. So, it's all a matter of your situtation and your body. It could take one month or a few years. Good luck.

For a couple 35 and under...it is 6 to 8 months. Over 35 it is a year. Generally the stats are 25% a cycle.

Jennika, the period depends on the way you are attempting to conceive.

To get pregnant you must have sex on a day that your eggs are being released.

After the 3rd day from the day that menses started put a thermometer into your mouth and check your body temperature every morning before you start turning in bed. The best time is at about 4 a.m. Maintain a chart. You will find that on one day the body temperature drops from 1/2 degree to one degree. This is the day that your eggs are being released. If you want to get pregnant this is the day that you must have sex.

After having sex you must stay in bed for about 30 mins with your knees bent up so that the sperms will not pour out - to enable them to travel up.

Get your husband to save his sperms in the testacles for at least 5 days before sex to enable them to mature well to do their job

Every couple is different! If you really want to know your chances of conceiving, go to a fertility doctor; he can tell you if there are any biological problems!

It could take years. Take it easy and if after 12 months you haven't succeded, then go to a fertility specilist.
