I'm just curious.

It is proven that most people with acne, are a lot more hygienic and wash their face more regularly than those who do not have acne. Also, being an ex-sufferer myself realised how good-looking I was underneath.

If a girl knew this, would it make a difference to how she looked at that person?

If no, then please pass the message round to every girl you know.
Because there are a lot of sufferers out there who lower their self esteem enough, without somebody walking up to them in a club, and telling them that they need to wash their face.
Thank you.

testosterone might have a role in causing acne. I don't know where you got the study that says that most people WITH acne are MORE hygienic than those who don't. I know acne is caused by bacteria. It seems like washing more will keep the bacteria at bay. I think genetics has a pretty big role in it as well -- people with more oily skin will probably have more acne. I admit, I can be pretty superficial at times. If I met a guy with really bad acne, and didn't know him, I'd probably be turned off. If I knew he was good-looking underneath, it's hard to say. If he had a good personality too, then I'd probably take a chance with him...
I don't know.
People have prejudices against other people too. Short people like me...girls who aren't size 2s like me. Guys probably don't approach me because of this too.
So, let's turn the tables. Would you approach a short, not-so-thin girl if you knew she had an awesome personality???

I was a fellow sufferer and also had very low self esteem. I was very conscious of having acne and used to always ask "why me?" I was lucky as I did have regular girlfriends and it wasn't until later on that my acne completely disappeared. I guess I always worry about things being worse than they really are but that's just me! I am very fortunate in that I am extremely handsome and could always have the pick of the women, sometimes having 3, 4, 5, on the go at the same time! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but acne is a problem, I admit.

Sometimes other people can be small-minded and rude. Acne is just one of those things that ya just can't help sometimes. It doesn't matter if you scrubbed your face all day long.

What we eat sometimes affects our skin. People with ance tendencies need to drink LOTS of water (it flushes the system and helps alot!), and avoid oily foods, spicey food, and chocolate. They should also be on a good vitamin program. Also, having a regular sleep schedule helps.

Along with this, I would recommend "proactiv solution". It can be ordered online. It is shipped every six weeks or so when you get on the program and isn't that expensive...I think around $35-40 to get started.

In the meantime, ignore rude people, do what you can to lessen the acne flare-ups, and keep on smilin'!

You poor thing. I suffered for a long time too and was (still am) sick to death of people acting like you somehow CHOOSE to have acne.
Funnily enough i'm in the middle of composing an angry email to a magazine about an article from the so called 'Diet Doctors' claiming that you can 'cure' it by healthy eating....! I can't believe they are resurrecting that old wives tale...! I never touch junk food but i still break out sometimes.
Anyway, i hope the word gets spread. If anyone says that to you again tell them they need to wash their mouths out...!
Lots of good wishes ;) xxxxxxxx

Acne shouldn't make any difference in dating. Sounds like there are some rude people out there. I got acne when I was 9 and had low self esteem into my adult life. Even when I outgrew it, I still had little confidence and self esteem. People should look inside a person, not go by physical appearance....)(

What the hell kind of question is this?

Of course people with acne are more hygenic - they're washing more often to try and get rid of the acne. People who don't have acne don't feel the need to wash their face constantly, because their skin is good.

What does this question even mean? Is it saying girls with acne are bad? Or that girls don't like guys with acne? Are you just trying to help pathetic, pimply faced guys out there, by asking a pointless question? I don't get it.

Are you really trying to convince the shallow girls out there that dislike guys ONLY because they have acne, to try and be friends with guys with acne? Isn't that just a little bit pitiful that you would want to be friends with those girls in the first place?

Ugh, I'm tired of typing about this.

I use Mint Julip Masque by Queen helene..it can be found in any store, walgreens, target, duane reed...I USE it and i keep it on for 15 minutes, it dries up the pimples and cleans ur face and leaves it refreshed...

dont use proactiv, it does not work...once when i had acne i went to my dermatologist and he gave me this good cream that i had to put in the fridge it had BENZOIL PEROXIDE...ask that from ur doctor.

also...yes...you are not alone, I've had that so many times, people came up to me told me that i don't wash my face, it does hurt but, acne won't last long!! just go to ur dermatologist, please don't use clearisil or proactiv they are a waste of money, i know this because my brother and I tried it..best of luck girl <3333

Acne just depends on the person's genes or something. If you have it, there's nothing you can do about it. Theres no miracle creme out there to make it disappear altogether. I don't have acne, I never did, but I feel bad for those who do and get called names like pizza face and whatnot.

i see where you're coming from, and i wouldn't tell anyone to wash their face, but there is a slight gag-factor to kissing someone with an acne problem. I know it's not fair, but that's the way it is.
