Eventually it will but it takes too long.
Place some boric acid around the mound... that's quicker.

I've never heard of Grits doing the unmentionable. However, a few years ago in NC I had the same problem. Check out the following websites below.

I have heard that cornmeal does so since grits are also made from corn I say go for it.

Brewers yeast and honey will work. the Ants are atracted to the honey and they eat the yeast and take it back to the nests. the y then explode because the yeast expands. It must be brewers yeast. not the bread yeast.
