Basically I have the plan and it says the left hand side isn't my boundary but then in a separate letter is says it is. Only I'm having trouble with my neighbour who is quite aggressive so I want to be clear on the facts.

Your boundary is normally on the left side (when looking at your house) ;-)

In the UK it is written in your house deeds and plans. If you stand facing the front of your house then your boundary is the one running down the RIGHT hand side.

Depends where you're from. Here in the UK there's things like the Land Registry (which shows deeds and things like the history of your house). I'd imagine other countries have similar departments

If you have a mortgage, write to the building soc. and they will send you a map of your land with the boundaries you are responsible for marked.

In the U.S. you can check with your clerk and recorder as to what the boundries are to your property. It will already be registered and should include the most recent survey.
