California still has a law on the books that says a Husband can / should spank his wife if she doesn't wash her dust cloth after cleaning with it.

Laws are made by people who were voted by dumb or votes stolen from the people by power hungry men/women. The only way you can change that is run and get elected yourself. Then you get corrupted and get power hungry yourself including the money you will make and you will become like anyone else. Just live your life and ignore the news and you will have less stress. Do you think law makers don't think people are stupid that's why they come up with your so called dumb laws? You can start by traffic laws.

I heard the president wants to make banning gay marriage a constitutional amendment. Now that would be a stupid law and a rampant abuse of executive power.
Republicans are supposed to be about smaller government, yet they don't trust states to handle an issue that affects a microscopic number of Americans. What BS.
Is it 2008 yet?

I'm in the UK and (apparently) there are still laws in place that state you must practice archery on common land, that you mustn't herd goats across London Bridge and that a husband cannot kiss his wife on a Sunday.
I'm not sure if you would actually be prosecuted for this, it might be urban myth but hey, it's a laugh!

Not in my area, no. But in West Virginia, I am almost sure that there is an old law (that noone can excersise anymore) that states that you can only beat your wife on the steps of the church on Sundays.
One of those old laws that I think was never well intended.

In San Francisco it is illegal to appear in public barefoot while wearing a tuxedo. It was implemented in the early 20th century so that they could arrest a man who ran around in a tux with no shoes and harrassed the tourists.

My common sense friends from Europe can't believe this one: in my town, you cannot have an outdoors clothesline to dry your laundry.
This is the burbs, and you would imagine people would want their sheets and certain clothes dried in the fresh air and sunshine. I can imagine not wanting underwear or "personal items" hung up, but this is ridiculous.
