my friends hairdresser told her to take pre-natal vitamins to make her hair grow better. she said it also helped her fingernails, and made her boobs grow. I was wondering if this really works and why. And also if they are ok to take if you are not pregnant (she isn't and neither am I) I especially want to know about if they make your breasts grow.

I have never heard about the breats, but yes everything else is true. ALso it is ok to take pre-natal vitamins even if you are not pregnant. There is nothing wrong with a little extra Iron in your diet. Doctors even recommend taking Iron if your not pregnant but are of child baring years.

Sure you can. It won't hurt you or anything. Remember though that pre-natal vitamins are just vitamins with some extra things for a baby, so you could try a regular daily vitamin first to see it that works. They are cheaper than most of the pre-natals anyway. You also need to make sure that you are treating your hair properly. Since you color it, you should be using a good mask or deep treatment to help keep it strong and moisturized. Whether it's something from the salon or drug store, you should be using a heavier conditioner whenever you wash your hair, and ideally weekly or monthly treatments. All the vitamins in the world won't help if you don't use things on the outside too.

Vitamins are good for you whether or not they are prenatal. Prenatal vits are just formulated to help a woman to have the proper nutrients for her baby. If you want you can check out www.puritan.com thats a website that sells vitamins and you can actually buy vitamins to help with hair and nails. Good luck

My doctor gave them to me because I was a bit anemic. They definitely helped my hair and nails. Haven't noticed any difference in the breast area, but I was enormous there to start with.
