Personally I think striking is the wrong way to go about this. They may have grievances, and thats fair enough, but its the public that are suffering most as a result, and we can do nothing about how much they are paid or what benefits they get etc. Although I think they did have public sympathy at first, they have lost this now, and I think there are very few left who will support them. The stupid thing is that its only causing them more problems. Royal Mail rely on business post to make their money, they get little from private post. However, many businesses are fed up with the strikes damaging their business and are switching to alternative suppliers. They are very unlikely to switch back! So, with every strike Royal Mail lost more money, and its damaging them heavily. With less money coming in, they can't pay the staff more, and its likely more staff will actually get laid off. At the worst it could cripple Royal Mail to the point it can't recover, and thats not going to help anyone working for them. I can't see how the postmen think its a good idea to strike, its self defeating, and they are going to come out worst of this situation. If they have real problems, then they should go and find other jobs, its not like there aren't any out there! Thats what everyone else does when they are unhappy with their jobs.

If you have no better concrete offers, then absolutely. Go for it!

But be warned. Most of England is not like the photos. You might get really lucky though. Wherever it is, it will be a great experience for you.

And there is no better job for a songwriter than being a postie. You can write tunes in your head as you do your rounds. Watch out for all those desperate housewives though....

It is very hard work! There is an awful lot of post to deliver on an average day, you have to be fit and strong, it looks like you are from your avi. I think Royal Mail are a good company to work for, as long as you work directly for them and not through a dodgy agency. :)

They have a bad reputation at the moment because of several negative news stories about them and their workers.
(Postman arrested, 400000 letters found in his flat...
Rubber bands litter pavements... etc)

Still I'd probably take the job if I were you. They are a nationally recognised company and so will (probably) be a fair employer.

They are a huge employer.
Check out their website.

It's not bad money about £7.00 per hour i think and you will need money while you get your singing career started.
