do you see a difference? I don't... when i say I'm sorry to someone in (da hood), they say "don't say you're sorry...say you apologize. you are not a sorry person".. i look at them like they're crazy. I am not saying i'm a sorry person...i'm saying that i'm sorry for whatever behavior i did.... i think the reason "ghetto, hood" people get offended by that is because some of them are sorry as a person....calm down, not everyone...I just notice they're real sensitive on that word -- and they really don't need to trip...any input?????

thanks for your answers...i feel the reason they don't like the word SORRY is because they are not working, selling drugs, etc.etc. and they really are SORRY...just my experience...that's why i say hi and bye now.

They are being ridiculous! Next time you say "I'm sorry
and they find fault say " I apologize for saying I'm sorry!"

I think that saying that you apologize seems more sincere, and saying I'm sorry can be interpreted in many ways. I also think that the people who say those things are just looking for the feeling fo authority, and don't even know the difference of sorry and apologize themselves. They are just talk, and like to fell badass. Just brush them off.

That seems strange to me. I would think "I apologize" is more formal and less personal. People in da hood generally prefer things on a more personal level.

Perhaps the word sorry makes them think you are referring to their state of affairs.

seems 2 me that u have a problem with the hood, aint there where u came from? we all came from some kind of hood. and apologize sounds more like u mean it other than saying im sorry all the time.

so far what i have read tells you nothing. to say 'sorry' is to show weakness. the word sorry is an emotional apology. to 'apologize' is being less weak. the same for saying 'my bad'. when saying it, you aren't necessarily sorry for your actions. nor are you apologizing. you are simply accepting, in the verbal sense, the fact that you did something to irritate someone. it's all the nature of the beast, where you grow up and how you communicate.

apologize means means you are not really sorry. apologizing is something that can be done in theory in the future.

sorry is when you feel bad and repent for your perceived wrongs. it is present tense. yoiu are apologizing when you say sorry. whe u aplogize you havent said your sorry yet.

bottom line people are fake.

"Apology" and "Sorry" are two entirely different words,
completely different meanings.
Saying one is "Sorry" is NOT accepting responsibility.
"Apologizing" is accepting responsibility and acknowledging
fault.

It's the same thing. Yeah..I'm guessing they have issues with the word, but the two sentences mean the same thing.
