what CURRENTLY makes the Dixie Chicks so controversial?

I saw the front cover of a magazine out of the corner of my eye concerning ongoing "controversy" over the Dixie Chicks... they obviously (with their current hit) don't give a hoot! Didn't read it or buy it though.

Ya, I remember all the Bush bologna with this girl group, but what is the CURRENT issue that everyone seems to be having a problem with?????

The controversy is over Natalie Maines' bashing of Bush in 2003 and the backlash that happened then against them and their attempted comeback into a musical format that is both for and against them..espcially by trashing those same people in the first release off the new cd

Dixie Chicks come from Texas and so does President Bubba. Many people automatically assume that means everything he does will be alright with them. But it just ain't so. Current issue is they "Natalie Maines' 15 words can't top George Bush's 16—the ones about uranium in Niger—for political effect. But when the Dixie Chicks played London in 2003, 10 days before the Iraq invasion, and Maines said, "Just so you know, we're ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas," the tremors in the conservative country music scene were seismic. The Chicks, whose previous two CDs had hit No. 1 on both the pop and country charts, lost album sales and radio play. Some fans stomped their discs to bits."

Eh, I dunno. I hate country music unfortunately. I haven't heard anything new about them controversial wise since the Bush Dis (which they should've done anyway)
