There's this old story that may apply...
There once was this road between 2 towns - Revi and Tox.
One day a couple from Revi decided to move to Tox and were taking that road and came across an old woman. Not recognizing her, they determined she must be from Tox.
They asked her- "We are from Revi and are moving to Tox. What type of people will we find there?"
She tells them - "First let me ask you this - What are the people like in Revi?
They answered - "OH! they are horrible - they lie, they cheat, they steal! - It's the reason we're moving!"
So she answers - "You'll find the same in Tox." With that they go on their way.
A few days later, another couple from Revi decide to move to Tox and happen upon the same road to meet the same old woman. They also ask her what kind of people they will find in Tox. Where she posed the same question to the second couple.
"What are the people like in Revi?"
Except they answer - "Oh they were wonderful - kind, caring, loving and generous. It's a shame we have to leave, by my husband got a better job in Tox."
To this the old woman replied..."Don't worry - you'll find the same in Tox."
The moral of this story is - If you look hard enough you will find whatever you want to find in a culture... Good or bad.

I didn't want to enter this kind of conversation but i'm a muslim and muslims are concerned on their life and their god more than anything else.....True muslims are peaceful, love all people and there's no racial discrimination.....There are bad muslims as there are bad christians.....the western media describes islam as bad muslims only.....it's not correct as u can't judge on people from some characters only but u must live with them and know their traits....i think that true muslims aren't been discovered by the west until now....but to muslim's lifestyle, the muslim try to make a balance between thier life and their god......That's all

Panacea, you are so wrong and ignorant. I'm Muslim and I live my life just like anyone else does. I'm a teen and I do things that teens do. We work, go to school, have fun, just like those of other religions. When it's time to pray, we pray. We, well some of us, follow the religious laws and live life. It's the same with one of any other religious group. We balance life and religion.

Followers of Islam, as we have observed and what the Quran prescribes, do prayer five times a day. They are supposed to observe fasting in the month of Ramzan. They are also supposed to go to Haz ( to Kabba at Mecca), at least once in lifetime. They are supposed to join in Jihad as a command from Allah for annihilation of the Kafirs (those who do not accept Muhammad as a Prophet and the last of its kind). It also sets various codes of conduct comprising do-s and do n't-s. One of them is preventing to marry ones own mother, mother's sister, uterine sisters etc. etc. It also says that one male can have four females as wives; not more, because he can not maintain them.
In Christianity, there is also code for social conduct but some confusing philosophy of Trinity which many Chrisitans do not understand. Judaism also prescribes many codes for good conduct. All these three religions have emanated from the same source, i.e. semitic culture but Islam wanted to globalise their faith, hence the conflict since the days of Muhammad. It is destined to continue till the Quran exists, because of certain conflicting provisions and an injunction on the followers of Islam not to co-exist with non-Muslims.
Hinduism is a way of life, aimed at reaching the ultimate Truth by self experience rather than some one's teaching. They follow that path chosen from many experimented paths that led to the ultimate Truth. They are not conservative because they believe that the Truth does not unfold once and for all, it is a gradual process, and with tremendous faith and patience they are taught to pursue the path of Truth.
Budhism, Jainism, Sikhism, Sakta, Vaishnava, Shaiva, Adwaita, Vishishta Adwaita, Dwaita-Adwaita, Sanatani, Brahmo Samaj, Arya Samaj etc. etc. all are various schools of thought propounding basically Hindu way of life at various stages of its development as warranted by varying situations. But the basic tenets remain the same. All of them believe in universal welfare and the entire mankind as one family.
In no other religion there is place for dissidence, except Hinduism. That is, perhaps, the guarantee that it will survive any onslaught on it as it has successfully withstood all these millenia since its origin which could not be dated by scholars.

I believe that people who follow the popular religions that you mention expect that you worship their God, respect fellow humans and love your self as you would have others love you. Violence is not part of organized religion but wars have been fought with interpretations of that same religion. Today, just look at Ireland, Bosnia, Somalia, the Middle East and you will see killing for religion.

Muslims live their lives in stark terror that people will discover the truth about Islam....that it promotes nothing but evil and shame.
Their fears are well justified. The entire world is learning the truth about them.
