My daughter is called Vanessa - which is both pretty and unusual and means "butterfly". My son is called Bruce- again, uncommon and cannot be shortened -suitable for both baby and grown man.

Why not try combining part of mommy and daddy's names, or a beloved family member or two. Just remember that the baby will grow up and has to live with the name that you give him/her. And kids are very cruel, so think twice about things that kids can come up with to tease your kid with, especially if it might rhyme with something that sounds ugly or nasty. My boy's are Jeremiah (after my favorite "Jeremiah Johnson", I love Robert Redford, but Robert was to common), my youngest (just turned 21) is Jacob Devin- Jacob is after me, my granddad used to call me Jake, and we thought that he was going to be a girl the first since me, and hen he came out a boy, I decided to give my granddad a real Jake. Had they been girls they would have been Kandice Joy (Kandi) and Julliana Desiree. Just don't get too wierd. I am guessing that your name is michelle, you might try something like Mica or Mishca or Chell or Elle or even Mikki. Good luck
