The indoor toilet. Beats the heck out of cleaning a thunderjug every morning or running out to the privy in a blizzard.

if i had to pick one and be super literal... i would say electricity, that runs almost every appliance you have... but if i couldnt choose that and maybe try to act funny i would say: the clock, i never learned to read a sun dial and i dont plan to start now!!
