I am with you 110%! I cant stand it. And what I hate more is how Nike, ESPN, Gatorade and others are trying to make us like it. Have you noticed how ESPN has "World Cup Moments"? Really, who in the USA other than those on the US National team really care? We all know that football is really football, and the rest of the worlds futbol is really soccer. We have the real football!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't say that Americans hate soccer. After all, there are lots of soccer camps in America. But I think what you mean is that why do Americans not watch soccer. Well, it's kind of complicated, but here's the story. In soccer, there are no commercials until halftime. The media HATES that because they can't make their money from advertisements on soccer games. The advertisements in soccer are on the wall around the pitch and advertisements in American sports (like football) are thrown in every time they can get. There's several commercial breaks in American football. I've actually calculated it and I discovered that it takes 3 hrs. (yes, 3 hrs.) to play 1 hr. of football. RIDICULOUS! I was so annoyed with commercials every time it changed possessions. But in soccer commercials are awesome because they only happen at the half. So, in a nutshell, the media hates soccer, not Americans.

I'm sorry, but i beg to differ with many of the answers to this question. I am in great physical shape because i am a dancer, and i really dislike soccer. I was in soccer and they has me play all the time because I had the endurance and skill. I am told that I am very good at soccer, but I don't like it because it is too easy for me. It is a bore. Making fun of other people will not make you feel better about yourself (an FYI for the rude answers to this question)

HAHA the only reason you people hate soccer is beause you are TOO FAT AND TOO OUT OF SHAPE TO PLAY IT! Sorry for the strong opinion but I recently had a softball coach I hated that tried to tell me soccer wasn't a running sport. He's fat and overweight with a belly thats bigger than my old computer moniter. So all y'all that hate soccer... try playing it! You'll hate it even more because you're too lazy to appreciate it!!!!!!!!!!!

I HATE IT TOO i like any other sport better My favorites are lacrosse, field hockey, and swimming and horseback riding
all the people who said that anyone who dislikes it is too out of shape to play it is completely wrong because only about 2 of my friends play it and they aren't in better shape than any of my other friends that play lacrosse and field hockey you have to run just as much in any of those sports

I love soccer. And it doesn't matter if you are too out of shape to play because I'm fat and I love to be goalie mainly because I don't have to run as much. But I love watching it also because I can sit and eat.
