Bjorn Borg won the French 6 times I think along with his 5 straight Wimbledon titles but the US Open eluded him, losing to Jimmy Connors twice and John McEnroe twice in the finals. Ivan Lendl won the French 3 times, US Open 3 times, and Australia at least once but he could never take Wimbledon. I know it wasn't exactly addressing your question but it just letting you know about other top players who had one grand slam leg elude them.

Boris Becker and Jimmy Connors also won the other three and did not win in France. John McEnroe, surprisingly, never won in France or Australia. Andre Agassi actually won all four, but not in the same year.

U didn't specify consecutively or not. I think Rod Laver, Sampras & now Roger are the only three who won three grand slams consecutively in the same year.
