The date on the check in question is 3 15 2006 And it is drawn on an account of a bank in canada and that bank will not give any infromation how can I find out infromation on this chec k ?

Don't deposit the check! Present it for collection. There's a big difference. If it does not clear, there will be no additional fees if you present it for collection while there will be bounced check fees if it fails to clear and you deposited it.

There will be some heavy fees for a foreign check, however. I would contact the drawer and ask them to replace it with an international money order payable in US dollars and drawn on a US bank. Present that for collection as well, but the fees should be much lower.

IF He/she has a financial employer account then there is not any value in cashing the verify.. right here in canada financial employer oftentimes carry the money for 14 organization days till the verify cleared US financial employer.. ( What a brilliant MESS) .. oftentimes the verify clears the U. S. financial employer in 2 organization days however the financial employer right here in canada purely opt to hold ppl money... i'm fed up in those financial employer in canada.. i'm hoping sooner or later they are going to learn banking from US banks

Take it to your bank and try and cash it. The worse thing that can happen is that they'll hand it back to you, uncashed. In the future, don't accept out-of-country checks.

deposit it in your bank.And ask them to collect it for you and add it to your account.If it cashes,; no problem.If it doesn't; the receipt will have all the details of the check.
