The preppiest of the preppy have a small list of stores that always deliver. Here are a few of my favorites:
- Lacoste: Home of the tennis polo and colorful tennis-inspired clothes.
- J. Crew: Classic preppy clothes features preppy fabrics, colors, and designs.

None of the other stores listed are preppy at all. Go with Brooks Brothers, Polo, LaCoste, Vineyard Vines, J Press and outdoor type clothing like Patagonia, North Face, Kavu and others. Shorts are typically short (end above the knee), and clothes fit the way they are supposed to (NOT baggy or tight).

Well, I am not "preppy" but I do like shopping at Tommy Hilfiger, Gap, The Limited, Abercrombie & Fitch, American Eagle.. Just to name a few....
