Although I used tanning oil, I have a sunburn since yesterday, I wouldn't say it's serious, just a little red, it doesn't even hurt, but the skin is still really warm. I already used a lot of bodylotion and baby-powder and I drink a lot of water. Are these the only things I can do? Or is there anything else I forgot?
Another question: Will I be able to go into the sun again tomorrow for tanning or will it become seriously worse then?

All of you that say "stay out of the sun" are ignorants. Or you don't care about your appearance. Great, then I don't want to see you! Pale people get discriminated or have to stay at home during the summer (or wear lots of clothes and sweat your ... off!)Great, stay at home and miss the fun!!! But that's not what I want! The sun is good for you, believe it or not. Btw, this question was asked so long ago. No sunburn anymore (and I said it was a light sunburn/ just a little red skin for those who can't read) and now I am perfectly tanned!!! Are you jealous? I bet you are!
And: tanning oils DO have SPF in them!!! At leat the one I buy. If you don't know anything about tanning, then don't answer a question about it!

try anything with Aloe in it, and you can go in the sun but not between the hours of noon and 2 when the sun is the highest and hottest.

if you have access to an aloe vera plant break off a piece of it and rub the aloe on your burn. This will help a great deal. I would avoid tanning until the burn goes down. The reason you have a burn is because you had to much contact with the sun to begin with and prolonged sun is not good for you but in moderation it is the greatest thing for you. I wouldn't advise using any kind of lotion or anything while in the sun because the heat from the sun opens your pours and whatever you have on your skin is going right into those pours and can cause skin irritations and anything else that could go along with clogged pours. Just an FYI

Well first of all, don't use tanning oil. It's not good to use that stuff (or baby oi)l...it doesn't protect your skin against sunburns or the harmful effects of UV rays. And with cancer popping up everywhere, you want to do your best to avoid it.
To help with the burning. Buy some aloe vera and put in the refrigerater for awhile, and then apply it. It feels really good!
If you're trying to build a tan, only stay out in the sun for about 15-20 minutes everyday. That way you can build it up over time and stay sunburn free for summer.

Firstly, tanning oil does not protect you against burns. It's supposed to help color develop or something like that, but most have no sun protection at all, and I've only seen a few with 7 or 8 SPF, which really won't protect you at all from burning. When you go out to tan, put on a sunscreen with at least 15 SPF, and if you are very pale, at least 30 SPF. You will still get a tan from laying out in the sun, you just won't be in pain at the end of the day.
Secondly, If you are sun burnt, don't go back out into the sun until the burn has faded into a tan, and put sunscreen (at least 15 SPF!) on all exposed parts of your body whenever you go outside until it is no longer a burn. If you go out to tan again tomorrow, you'll just get more badly burnt.

Using Tanning Oil is like basting a Thanksgiving Turkey. Use a SUNBLOCK with an SPF of at least 30. Slather it on at least 30 minutes BEFORE going into the sun and reapply after swimming or every hour. Also wear a wide brimmed hat.
For the burn you have now, apply aloe vera gel. The best thing is to buy an aloe vera plant and break off a leaf and apply the inside to your burn.

If you are already red stay out of the sun, it will only make things worse. Aloe will help with the reddness. A mixture of water and vinegar will that the sting out if there is any. Tanning oil won't stop a sun burn. That is what sun screen is for, but don't put sun screen on skin that is already burnt you can actually irriate the skin since most sun screens absorb the suns rays.

Well, I have something for sunburn. The company that makes it is Hawaiian Tropic. Me and friend had to share it once cause we got sunburn and it really help it helps so that your skin doesn't peel. Its blue and like a liquidy gel. It really good try it!
And if I were you, I wouldn't go back into the sun. It could be come serious. If you want to that is your decision. But if I were you, I would put sunscreen on. I got a really nice tan the other day just by putting on sunscreen and letting myself get exposed by the sun.

Noxema skin cleanser is great to take the burn and heat out. Put it on sunburn and leave it. You can also try witch hazel or plain white vinegar. The noxema smells better. I wouldn't recommend going back in the sun until all traces of sunburn is gone. It's very unhealthy to get even a slight burn. It not only causes premature aging it also causes skin cancer. Be safe and be smart. Make sure your tanning products have a safe level of sunscreen included in the ingredients.

First, DO NOT expose your red skin to anymore uv rays until it goes away! It will just make it worse.
Next, there is a product that is usually sold in tanning salons called Insurance by California Tan. It is like a blue gel that works wonders for turning red skin into brown skin! I brought it with me to Cancun and everyone with me used it and loved it. Without it we would not have been able to go out each day.
Also, you can take something like tylenol or advil-as long as you are not allergic to those to help lower your body temperature.

i wouldn't recommend going back in the sun, if you are red now then their is heat jsut imagine the heat of the sun on your already heated skin. can we say ouchhhhhh and hottttt. BTW the best thing ever to use for a sunburn is drum roll please, vicks sab vapor rub. Believe me this stuff works miracles for everything imaginable. I got sunb urned so bad once and couldn't even straighten my back out, got hubby to put the vicks sab on and i stood staright up, it loosed me up so my skin wasn't so tight and it makes the pain go away. I sware by this stuff it is truly awesome. Plus it has a cooling sensation and to your heated burnt skin it is a A++++++++++++ makes you say auhhhhhhhhhhhh with relief.

Never use tanning oil. Oil is for frying things in a frying pan. Use sunscreen. Don't go back in the sun tomorrow. Use aloe vera not lotion. and no baby powder. You did everything wrong.
