x ~2 + 3x = 54
=> x~2 + 3x -54 = 0
=> x~2 + 9x - 6x -54 = 0
=> x(x+9) - 6(x + 9)=0
=> (x-6)(x+9) = 0
=> x=6
=> x = -9
Since i've solved ur problem, wish me on my birthday on the 25th of this month...................when I turn 14.............

First the equation must look like:

x-squared + 3x - 54 = 0

Then Factor so:

(x-6) (x+9)

This means that x = 6, -9

6

x^2 + 3x = 54
x^2 + 3x - 54 = 0
(x + 9)*(x - 6) = 0
x = {-9, 6}

As far as factoring in my head goes, I just think of what factors of -54 add up to 3.

x^2 + 3x = 54

can rewrite as
x^2 + 3x - 54 = 0

factors for -54 are 9 and -6
so write as
x^2 + 9x - 6x - 54 = 0

x ( x + 9 ) - 6( x + 9 ) = 0
( x - 6 ) ( x + 9 ) = 0
x = 6
x = - 9

x^2 + 3x - 54 =0
(x+9)(x-6)=0
x = 6 or -9

x*2+3x=54
x*2+3x-54=0
(x+9)(x-6)=0 * Your Answer*

Because the answer has +3x, x+9 must come first because when you add your answer (x+9)(x-6)=0, it must agree to the solution you worked out with.

if you dont know just use the quadratic equation

x^2 + 9x - 6x - 54 = 0
x(x+9) - 6(x+9) = 0
(x-6)(x+9) = 0
