Giving your boss a token gift for Christmas or his birthday is perfectly acceptable. Bringing back a souvenier from a vacation or business trip is okay. Just giving him a gift "because" is not a good idea.

When you make mention of the fact that you are both married, though, it sort of makes your intentions a bit suspect. Do you "admire" him in the same way you'd admire him if he were a woman, or is there even the slightest hint of an attraction? If there is, don't give him gifts or otherwise behave in any way that anyone else in your company would potentially see as flirtatious. It will be harmful to your career and won't do your marriage any good, either. Not that you or he would do anything wrong, but you'd be surprised at how fast the rumor mill will spin in a company.

As for the type of gift, keep it fairly impersonal. If he's a golfer, think "head cover(s) for his woods". Does he read a lot? Perhaps a book by his favorite author and a nice bookmark or a subscription to a magazine covering one of his favorite subjects. Is he a wine drinker? Go to your local wine shop and ask the sommelier for a recommendation (or pick something out yourself if you are confident that you know what you're buying). If you don't know his interests, a nice desk set is always a safe bet.

Don't buy clothing, cologne, or anything else that is to be worn or used on his person. That is too intimate and will send the wrong message.

No, I wouldn't give him a gift. I think it is unprofessional and co-workers may look upon you as being a brown noser. You also have to think would he give me a give because I'm doing a great job and he admires me?? In addition, he may construe the gift to be something it's not. Honestly the best gift you can give him is to do a really good job at work. Hope that helps.

A BJ but don't swallow...lol....just make it a decent one and be nice about it......lol....come on give me a break, you got the hots for him and if you don't then he will think you do if you give him any kind of gift... not to mention how your husband will perceive you giving your boss a gift, he'll think you have the hots for him too and think you have f**ked him already... be truth-full with your self screw if that's what you really want.

you want to give him a gift because you admire him? better wait for his b'day.

if you insist, try to find something not too pricey or too special, may give him false impression.

if I were your boss, something like... coffee and nice donut in the afternoon would be great! or perhaps, special snacks or drinks to be "shared" right before he left the office? something like that.

the best give for a boss (either gender) is something that they collect, or something related to a hobby or special interest. It shows that you pay attention enough, but it isnt too personal to be deemed innapropriate.
