Some arrestable offenses can be handled with a citation to appear in court. Sometimes people force officers to arrest them by not cooperating. Is this out of ignorance or stupidity?
A girl was arrested for an offense that would normally be a citation to court and then a small fine. She was arrested because she would not give the officer her name or any other information about her. In this instance the officer had no choice but to take her to jail.
I asked this here and in law enforcement to see what different answers I get.
My opinion is that a lot of people that hate cops bring it on themselves.

Cops are not always the bad guys. Just like in any profession there are those few who ruin it for the rest of us. If you give a cop respect you will be surprised what he/she are willing to do for you. But, when you get attitude and people who are not willing to cooperate unfortunately these things happen. Yes, people bring this on themselves more than you know. People tell their children that cops are the enemy and no good, that at times comes from parents who are up to no good themselves. It's just easier to tell the truth, because once you lie, you have to continue to make up another lie and another and then you look stupid.

Where I live we had this officer beat up a man because he thought he was drunk and when they took the guy to the hospital they found out that the man was not and had not been drinking. The officer was suspended . Some cops are good and some are bad just like in all walks of life. After the incident here with the man that the cop beat up just to be a macho cop I don't want to roll my window down if I was to get pulled over . I would just crack it and give him my info. Now that I think about it , I watched a show on when cops go bad. I think Jimmie Cagney was right when he said , " Copper, You dirty rat" !

I think they don't tell police their name out of fear of having their record brought up and being discovered that hey have warrants or something. Also, it could be that since police are such a**holes while policing the community, no one wants to help them. For instance, the police in Wilmington, DE SUCK! All they care about is writing tickets for stupid offenses while the crime rate soars. Like, they'll NEVER give you a simple warning. Plus, when you need them to enforce a court order (like a restraining order), they take FOREVER to respond. When they do crap like that, I await for the time when they need my help for something. I'll gladly refuse.

most people don't like the idea of big brother in their life. when a cop intrudes into your business the first reaction is to tell them to go away. everybody does this in a different fashion, some get stupid. some get oh so polite. me i kill them with kindness.

I agree... most people think they can outsmart the cops, and sometimes they can. But they do bring it on themselves.
