There are a lot of things that can be wrong with the battery:

*When you first charged it, you didn't let it fully run out until you let it charge again. That might have overcharged it.

*You might have used it while it was charging (the first time you charged it).

*You might have let it charge for only an hour(the first time).

*You might have charged it for the time, used it for an hour, and cahrged it again.

threten to sue apple, and get many ipods in place of one. Then you need not worry of losing charge. You always have a spare !

I think you are supposed to avoid taking your battery pack into severe temperature conditions of hot or cold for just that reason.

just get another brand. my ipod has been with me for about the same time and it wont accept anymore songs because it freezes up all the time and it is so frustrating.
sometimes it would erase all the songs ive put in too!!!

How much are you using the batteries? (How long/much do you listen to your iPod?) The more you listen and re-charge, the weaker the battery gets.
