They still have to be prepared to lock up the store. Often times the overnight employee will quit, or not show up for work, then what, you just gonna leave the store open with no employee? See my point?

There may be a need to use the locks, such as to keep a criminal out, or to close after a robbery or fire or flood or renovation. What if the store is sold to someone who intends to close at night or what if it was bought as a store that did close and was then turned into a 24 hour carry out?

Just because there open 24hrs a day doesnt mean they wont have to close up at some point for whatevever reason, maybe some sort of natural disater or accident or something like that.

my brother used to work at a Denny's. There was a sign on the marquee that said "always open". At one point they had to close to get new carpet installed, and they had to have new keys made in order to close the store! It had been so long they didn't know where the keys were! There is no longer an "always open" sign on their marquee!

Of course they do. They have to go pee sometime and they have to wait for the store to be empty and lock the door so they don't get robbed.

Yeah, they do. Sometimes they shut down for a few minutes so the person there can mop or clean something up, and some of them close on some holidays.

they have locks because... well lets say that there is a bad storm coming and the staff leaves because it is expected to be really bad... so they could lock the store up so no crook could get in right after they leave.
