No, Yahoo Messenger is not shutting down and the message you are getting is a hoax. Just delete it and ignore it.

No, it's not true; it's like those chain emails that used to go around all the time. If Yahoo! was really going to delete you, you'd have an email from them, not an IM from your friends.
