Yes, but they should save a spanking when it is really warranted (when the deed really warrants an attention getting discipline). If the child gets spanked for every bad action, it will soon not be effective.

there is a difference between spanking and beating. I think it depends on the age of the child and what they've done. I think that other methods may work better with some children but not with others. My children are younger and I have no problem swatting them on their butts if need be. There may be a discipline that works better for older children though. I'm not there yet so I can't speak intelligently. Good luck!

Spankings should come as a last resort and with a prior warning that they will be the result of continued disobedience. Sometimes children just won't obey unless a parent can impose a painful punishment that makes the consequences of disobedience a fearful enough experience to ponder that it outweighs the temptation to be self willed. As it is written....
Proverbs 22:15 Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.

I only spank my child when it is absolutely necessary! other times in the past, i have used a "time out"...but this involves putting the child in a place (i used the bathroom) that he/she can go (not the bedroom) and get themselves together. that also allows you time to cool down also. they can kick, hit, punch whatever, mess it up...but when they come out, they have to clean it up. It took a couple of times before my son caught on what was going on, but he knew in the end he didnt want to go there. it was a godsend especially since I was a single parent. I believe spanking should be used moderately!

Honestly spanking a child only humilates them, Don't get me wrong Sometimes its the only way when a child is out of control. When I was growing up I was spanked and it was with more than just the hand. a belt, a book, rope, brushes, spoons that was just wrong.

I think its ok to spank your child. There is a difference though between spanking and abusing. Spare the rod and spoil the child as said in the bible.

Once or Twice perhaps to convey the message that you were upset, and this was the consequence. Try to be your child's best friend. That's the challenge!

yes but there is a fine line between beatings and spankings. you dont have to but the fear of god into them to get your point across. you want to get their attention not make them fear you.
